M&S Shrewsbury Case Study

PROJECT

The project involved replacing a worn out rooftop packaged unit with a new, state-of-the-art, high efficiency replacement unit however, due to space limitations around this busy store and weight constraints concerning craning arrangements, the new rooftop packaged unit had to be specifically designed and constructed to ensure installation, commissioning and final hand over went according to plan and without any complications.

SOLUTION

Because of Weatherite’s 40 years of experience and our ability to design, manufacture, install and service & maintain high efficiency cooling solutions, which match the clients exact needs, delivering a new replacement rooftop packaged unit seems a relatively simple job.

However, due to a number of logistical reasons including lack of space around the store and crane lifting concerns, the new replacement unit had to be designed as a ‘four piece’ configuration in order to deliver and position on the stores roof.

For Weatherite Manufacturing, designing a four piece unit, manufacturing and assembling it in our factory, testing and pre-commissioning it - before then dis-assembling it back into its constituent four parts is all in a day’s work (we have been delivering bespoke HVAC solutions for over 40 years).

Needless to say, the four piece unit was delivered to the store, lifted into position, locked together to form one fully contained unit, commissioned and handed over for many years of continual energy efficient, low maintenance operation.

Other recent M&S installations where ‘split’ configured units have been installed include the Cork, Kenton and Bromley stores.

Note: We have many installations where we have had to design and build multi-compartmental solutions which have had to be transported to site and assembled in situ.

We have even designed a number of ‘flat-pack’ solutions which have had to be configured for use within existing plant rooms situated within the internal structure of the building.
