PROJECT
The project involved replacing the existing ‘Weatherite’ multi-zoned rooftop packaged cooling units originally installed over 17 years ago. The units were coming to the end of their useful lives and in need of being replaced with the latest state-of-the-art cooling technology. As an organisation, we have been delivering AC solutions to Tesco stores for over 20 years so they were more than confident that we could deliver a high quality Replacement’ solution – delivering long-term energy savings and highly efficient operations - at a cost effective price.
SOLUTION
As with all our clients, we offer a range of services including full project management capabilities. Alternatively we will work closely with the client’s teams to deliver the right solution. For this installation, Tesco requested we managed all aspects of the project from initial survey activity and reporting, through to design, manufacture, pre-testing and delivery of the new units to site before de-commissioning and removing the old units and installing the new units into exactly the same footprint-before finally hooking up to existing services including ductwork, BMS, power and water.
The new replacement units incorporated high efficiency backward curve fans, IE2 motors, the latest scroll compressors, inverters, heat exchangers and the new PX control system which interacts with the buildings BMS whilst also allowing total monitoring via a secure internet connection, from anywhere in the world.
The new units also incorporated environmentally friendly R407C refrigerant.
To minimise disruption to the stores important day to day activities and to the surrounding community, the new units were craned into position, installed, connected up and commissioned throughout the night and, as with all our installations, we ensured the full project team were present at the final hand over, to make sure the client was totally satisfied with all aspects of the installation. As with all our systems, maintenance programmes can be offered to ensure the units last another 17 years or, as with a high proportion of our cooling units, a lot longer.
